Gold reserves in the hills of Sonbhadra in UP! On 22 February 2020, news came out that there was a huge amount of gold found in Sonbhadra. Earlier the news of this quantity being 3350 tons came out. If we talk about the current gold reserve of India, then it is 626 tons. Accordingly, this amount was five times our current gold reserve. It was later discovered that this figure is incorrect. The Geological Survey of India i.e. GSI clarified that there is nothing like this. Only 160 kg of gold can be extracted from that place. And this is not a discovery. We came to know this only in the exploration that went on between 1998 and 2000.

The test is to find out whether this ore will be able to extract a profitable amount of gold? This means that the amount of gold that comes out after doing everything should be worth more than the investment.
Mining organizations assess the geology of each region. That is, they know what is in the rocks. Gold is usually found where other metals such as silver and copper are present. Samples of rocks from potential gold sites are tested in the lab.
The ore body is modeled after studying small pieces in the lab. Many times the help of complex computer programs is also taken in this. The computerized model gives an idea of the size and shape of the ore body. Also, it also shows what would be the best way to extract that ore.
Where gold is present within a little bit of the surface, there are small pits. They fill in the dynamite and dig it with explosions. These small pieces of rock are filled in a truck and sent to extract gold.
Underground mining takes place where gold is far below the surface. It consists of a copulated system of lift and shaft. Darker vertical columns are dug. Horizontal caves are made in those columns. Then go inside those caves and bang there and gather pieces of rock.
However, the pieces of these rocks are filled in trucks and sent to a mill. The work of extracting gold from these rock pieces begins in the mill.
Sawdust of these pieces is made in the mill. Then slurry is prepared by adding water to the shred. Leaching is the most popular method of extracting gold from this slurry. Gold is separated by adding cyanide and oxygen to the slurry. This is leaching.
After this, after going through many more stages of purification, the gold is melted and its blocks are prepared. These blocks are then sent for further refining. After that, gold reaches the market.
Only 10% of the gold deposits available in the world are such that there is a removable amount of gold. Most of the world’s gold is at the bottom of the sea. But at the moment we have no cheap and easy way to extract that gold.
