Former Indian boxer Dinko Singh, who won gold medal in the Asian Games, has also tested positive for COVID-19. 41-year-old Dinko Singh, who hails from Imphal, conferred with the Arjun and Padma Shree Award, is also battling liver cancer. He had won the gold medal for India in the Asian Games played in Bangkok in 1998. According to reports, he was brought to Delhi a month ago by air ambulance for treatment of cancer, though after treatment he suffered from jaundice and returned to Manipur.
Singh’s pre-scheduled radiation therapy was delayed due to the lockdown in March and he was brought to Delhi in an air ambulance arranged by the Boxing Federation of India in the last week of April. However, his treatment could not be completed due to jaundice and he was taken back to Manipur in an ambulance.
According to the source, “He may have had infection in Ambulance. Those who came in contact with him during his stay in Delhi will also have to be investigated.”
