The story of Kerala’s first tribal girl who is going to become IAS must be read.

There is a place in Kerala. Wayanad Rahul Gandhi is an MP from here. But today we are talking about it for some other reason. There is another girl who created history from Wayanad itself. Shridhanya Suresh. First tribal girl from Kerala, who cleared the IAS exam.

At the age of 22, Sridhanya gave the first appointment of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). She finally got his 410th rank in the third exam. In 2019. But it was not easy for Sridhanya to create this history.

Her father used to work in MNREGA. And the rest of the time used to sell bow and arrow. He got a small amount of land from the government to build the house, but due to lack of money, he could not even get it completed. Sridhanya was living in the same house with her parents and two siblings.

Sridhanya comes from the Kurichia tribe of Pozhuthana village. Despite the lack of money, her parents taught her to teach. She graduated from St. Joseph’s College, Kozhikode. In zoology. Post-graduation was also done from there. She then started working as a clerk in the Scheduled Tribes Development Department of Kerala. After that, she worked as a warden in a tribal hostel in Wayanad. At the same time, she met Sri Ram Samashiv Rao. He was the collector of Wayanad at that time. He motored Sreedhanya to give UPSC exam.

When Sridhanya was selected for an interview in the third Attempt, she did not even have the money to go to Delhi. Somehow her friends raised Rs 40,000 together. Then she was able to come to Delhi.

In an interview to YourStory, Sridhanya said,

I am from the most backward district of the state. There is a significant number of tribal tribes here, but no tribal IAS officer has yet been formed. The number of people preparing for UPSC from Wayanad is small anyway. I hope that my selection will inspire more people to work hard and move forward.

After the selection of Sridhanya, there was a media influx in her house. Sitting in the same house, she gave interviews, told her story. Priyanka Gandhi also came to meet her. And Rahul Gandhi also congratulated her by tweeting for Sridhanya.

In the tweet, Rahul wrote,

Sridhanya Suresh of Wayanad is the first tribal girl from Kerala to be selected in the civil service. Sridhanya’s hard work and dedication made her dream come true. I congratulate Sridhanya and wish her success in her career.

Perhaps Rahul forgot that Sridhanya herself said that Wayanad is one of the most backward districts of the state. Rahul is an MP from there. Hopefully, after congratulating her, he will also look into it.
